Study Abroad Dubrovnik 2025:

First Week: (11/2/2025-18/2/2025)

Plane Ride:

This is written retroactively and my emotions from that time might be a little different from the ones at the time but bear with me please. My parents took me to Dulles Airport in Washington D.C. and for the first time in my life I was going to fly all alone and internationally. I was very nervous and kind of sad to leave. I saw my mom cry as I got on the escalator that descended down to the security gates. In the security gates I met the nicest TSA Agents I have ever talked to before which was surprising. The lady checking passports was completely shocked at my airport picture because it's an old picture of my with short hair whereas now I have very long curly hair. She must've seen I was nervous because she helped out a little bit by just talking to me for a little bit. After that I got to my terminal and it was pretty smooth sailing, they took the plane over to get it sprayed off because snow had built up on the body and wings. Seeing the old lights through the mist of the chemicals being sprayed out of weird vehicles had a weird unsettling feeling about them. I tend to feel uneasy or creeped out by old vehicles which is a little bit weird and I don't quite understand it. We took off to Vienna and I had the whole row to myself which was nice. I didn't get to sleep at all, although I tried to no luck. 8 Hours later and I landed in Vienna which also had snow on the ground which I found interesting. I texted my parents telling them I was ok and got a water because I was very much dehydrated. While buying the water I heard my first instance of Eminem in Europe, which was Houdini but with an interesting eurodance remix to it. Not long after that, my flight to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, started to board the plane. They took us to a bus which drove us to a propeller plane which seemed like it was out of the 2000's. I sat right next to the propeller which made me ralise how thankful I should be for jet engines because that propeller was LOUD. Anyways, I got to Zagreb after 55 minutes and it was raining there which that theme continued when I landed in Dubrovnik an hour after Zagreb, my final destination. There I met two people that were studying at the same University as I was. They were both really nice people, although they came from New Jersey ew. Me and the guy I just met decided to get some food from the bakery before we settled in to which I got some sort of bred concoction with spinach and onions in the center. I didn't get to finish it though because I was too tired and fell asleep after eating half of the thing.

Next Five Days:

The next five days were really nice I got to meet a lot of the euro students but unfortuantely a lot of them were leaving on sunday because that was the end of their semester. Still I met some cool people that were staying for the next semester and those people are really cool. I also met all the other Americans through our program which all of them are really cool and pretty easy to talk to. We went out clubbing on friday and saturday to celebrate some of the euro student's last days in Dubrovnik before they go back. They were both awesome nights but unfortunately we accidently left two of the Americans in the club and I ran all the way back to find them. I did find them but they were fighting with each other because one of the people were pretty intoxicated and the other was worried about him and she was mad at me for forgetting her at the club. I did calm them both down though and they are all good now but that was not an experience I would like to do again lol. I went to bed, after taking a shower, at around 6AM and slept until 1PM which I felt horrible about. I saw that I would have an 8AM the next day which is something I did not want to do at all so I dropped that class and picked up and equivolent course. Because of that, I had the monday off and used it to explore the city with the other Americans.

First Day of Class:

The first day of class was interesting, I had Tourism Marketing and in the back of the class people talked for the entire period which was really annoying and confusing. That was the only class I had that day though which was nice.

Second Week: (19/2/2025-25/2/2025)

3 Days of Classes:

The next few days were really nice, all of the teachers seemed really nice and were interesting. Luckily in the second class of Tourism Marketing those people didn't attend the class so it was a lot easier to pay attention to the class. I don't know there's not much to talk about the classes, we (Americans) walked around after the classes and just explored the city more.

Roommate:

I just realized I never talked about my roommate lmao. The guy is really cool and we share a lot of common interests such as car racing and we also both love pokemon. The dude is really nice and funny and pulls out some references to shows or memes which is very similar to me. I really like my roommate and I don't think I'll ever get tired of him (fingers crossed). Idk not much to say besides he's cool.

I forgot to write more...

oops
